How to use Docs
Docs is a full document editor in your browser. Write proposals, briefs and reports with real pages, review them with comments and suggestions, and send them out as Word or PDF.
First steps
- Open Docs from the app launcher, or go to docs.coavon.com.
- Start a blank document or pick a template. It is saved to your Drive as you type.
- Share it with a teammate to work on it together, or download it as Word or PDF to send.
Writing and formatting
- Formatting
Headings, fonts, colours, lists, checklists, alignment, line spacing and styles, from the toolbar and the Format menu.
- Page setup
Paper size, orientation and margins, with a ruler to drag them. What you see is what prints.
- Headers, footers and page numbers
Set them once and they appear on every page.
- Tables, images and page breaks
Insert tables, and images from your computer, a link or Drive. Resize images freely. Add a page break to start a new page.
- Table of contents and bookmarks
A table of contents built from your headings, and bookmarks to jump around a long document.
- Outline
A side panel of your headings. Click one to jump to it.
- Find and replace
Search the document and replace words in one go.
Reviewing together
- Editing together
More than one person can work in a document at the same time and see each other's changes.
- Comments
Select some text and comment on it. Reply, and resolve the comment when it is dealt with.
- Suggesting
Switch to suggesting so your edits show as proposals. The writer accepts or rejects them one by one or all at once.
- Version history
Look back at earlier versions and bring one back. How far back depends on your plan.
- Sharing
Share a document with teammates who can view it or edit it.
